On Saturday, May 3, Deborah Shore, founder of Sasha Bruce Youthwork will join Vincent Schiraldi from the District’s Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services and Yadea Williams from the Department of Employment Services at a special Exposition at King Greenleaf Recreation Center in Southwest to offer job interview coaching, employment and vocational opportunities to troubled youth in DC.

Our Bruce House youth shelter, for instance, runs at capacity all year, yet funds to sustain our work are scarce.

SBY initiates new respite and family strengthening program

This summer the District of Columbia announced a major new public policy initiative to prevent entry of troubled youth into the child welfare system. Following a competitive application process, Sasha Bruce Youthwork was selected as the sole community based agency to spearhead this project, and in late September we opened our doors to the first set of young people to our new Respite and Family Strengthening Program.
