We were excited to be involved in last week’s FreeFest festival through our partnership with Virgin Unite! Not only were we given a prominent table to educate concert-goers about our services, but our own youth Go-Go Band, Forgiving All My Enemies (F.A.M.E.) performed on one of the stages!

Through our partnership with Virgin Unite, Sasha Bruce Youthwork’s youth GoGo band, Forgiving All My Enemies (F.A.M.E.) will perform at FreeFest tomorrow! FreeFest is an all-day concert that takes place at the Merriweather Post Pavilion and features three main stages and several well-known bands. This year’s headliners include Cee Lo Green, Patti Smith and Deadmau5!

On Thursday, July 28th at 4:30 PM, SBY will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new barber styling training facility and barbershop to be housed at our Richardson Dwellings Drop-in center, located at 262 54th St., NE.
Summer enrichment celebration & awards

Offering positive youth development activities during the summer is an important part of our work, and correlates to school success. This year, in addition to our Summer Enrichment Program offered historically at the Bruce House Shelter, we have expanded “camp” to another location so we can serve more youth.

Sasha Bruce Youthwork will host a series of forums to gather input from the community and to examine best practices related to teenage pregnancy prevention programming. The forums will run Tuesday evenings from 6 to 8 pm each week of August in Wards 4, 6, 7 and 8.
