ELEW concert a smashing success

The need for pregnancy prevention among youth in DC is profound, and the city’s Ward 8 accounts for 30% of births to child mothers. News is spreading fast about our successful bid to the federal government to implement an evidence-based pregnancy prevention program to address this problem.

Music with a purpose

If we are to meet our mission to improve the lives of homeless and disconnected youth, we need broad-based support, including partnerships with the corporate sector. One such partnership is with Virgin Mobile USA. For the past couple of months, officials from Virgin Mobile have been recruiting volunteers to work on behalf of our young people, and the Freefest concert at Merriweather Post Pavilion last weekend is one excellent example of a for-profit corporation, musicians and human service nonprofits working together to improve social conditions AND have fun.
