Former Bruce House, ILP resident shines as college scholar!

Anthony Ross, a former resident of SBY’s Bruce House shelter and Independent Living Program, has received various accolades and an impressive 4.0 GPA in his first year in college. Through years of hardship, Anthony Ross fought to stay on the right track. He found himself without a home and thus turned to SBY where he resided in both the Bruce House and ILP residences. With sustained determination and focus, Anthony attained his GED and eventually moved on to attend St. Augustine’s College in Raleigh, NC.

It is through programs such as Bruce House and ILP that youth like Anthony are given the support necessary to pursue their goals. This is but one story of an amazing young person who was able to overcome personal obstacles and move on to a safe, healthy, and successful life.
