Join us for our community garden kick-off and service day 4/23!

Thanks to generous contributions from SERVE DC, the mayor’s office on volunteerism, and Virgin mobile, SBY will be launching our new community garden and making improvements to our emergency shelter on Friday, April 23 from 2 PM – 7 PM.
Anyone is welcome to come out and enjoy the day as we work on various service projects and observe the healthy nutritional options to be provided by our new community garden.
The new Bruce House garden, a project conceived through a partnership with Beet Street Gardens, will be the first of two youth and community tended gardens to be created this season. At these on-site gardens, SBY will provide opportunities for education, skills building and access to nutritious food, for youth and community members who otherwise may not have access to such resources.
In addition, we will be acknowledging Global Youth Service Day by coordinating a variety of service projects all geared toward revitalization of our emergency shelter, the Bruce House, located at 1022 Maryland Ave., NE.
