Local nonprofits in jeopardy

Human service nonprofits are the foundation of healthy communities. Unfortunately, the ability of community based organizations to achieve their missions is inextricably linked to the ups and downs of the economy. The recession has had a devastating impact on poor people here – and on our nonprofit community.
Evidence of this terrible situation can be found in a recent report released by the Center for Nonprofit Advancement.
Clearly, now is the time to support worthy charities. Choose one whose mission reflects your values; and donate labor, money, supplies or the power of your voice in the public policy arena.
Sasha Bruce Youthwork has, so far, weathered the worst of the recession due to your ongoing support. But we have had to scale-back some of our essential services, and we are certainly not out of the woods yet.
