Post cites SBY’s Williams on Plan B controversy

13th of December 2011

The need for pregnancy prevention among youth in DC is profound. For instance, according to the DC Child & Family Services Agency, nearly half of young women in foster care have been pregnant by age 19. Petula Dvorak’s column in today’s Washington Post examines this problem in the context of a recent decision by the federal government to prohibit teens under 18 from attaining Plan B, the so-called “morning-after” pill.

For many years, SBY has been helping young people in the District make well-informed decisions about sex and its consequences, including unwanted pregnancies and communicable diseases. Jasmine Williams, a peer counselor with our POWER Program, gives her thoughts on the Plan B controversy in today’s paper. Read Dvorak’s column by clicking here and scrolling to the middle of the page.

Jasmine will be a featured speaker at our benefit concert tonight at 6:30 at Halcyon House. If you haven’t already purchased a ticket, please do so on line here. Guests also may come to Halcyon House, at 3400 Prospect Street NW and pay at the door.
