SBY, Redskins’ LaRon Landry, give out turkeys for the holiday
13th of November 2010
Through generous donations from both Redskins’ Safety LaRon Landry and Whole Foods, over 250 Southwest residents received Thanksgiving dinner. A recent Washington Post article highlights the amazing event.
SBY strives to enhance the lives of D.C’s neediest populations. Our Safe Neighborhoods Project performs extensive community outreach to D.C’s most disconnected and at-risk youth, many of whom reside in Southwest Washington. This Thanksgiving turkey give-away provided over 250 needy families with an inexpensive dinner in hopes of lending a hand at a time when many families are struggling to endure the economic downturn. This economic slump also takes a toll on agencies like SBY, as funding becomes increasingly scarce.
SBY will continue to support needy families and communities throughout the Holiday season and beyond. For information on how to donate food, clothing, or hygiene products to a needy family this Holiday season, please click here
