SBY seeks HIV prevention partners

14th of October 2011

As part of SBY’s federal Centers for Disease Control (CDC) grant, our P.O.W.E.R. program will be selecting sub-grantees to deliver various HIV prevention services.

SBY is a grantee for the 2010-2015 Centers for Disease Control & Prevention’s (CDC) PS10-1003: HIV Prevention Program for Community Based Organizations. Through this partnership, our POWER program engages African American and Latino/a youth ages 14-24 in a wide range of evidence-based HIV prevention services. As part of this process, funds have been allocated for distribution to community based organizations with strong ties to this population for the implementation of:

1) Sisters Informing Healing Living and Empowering (SIHLE), the evidenced based intervention for young African American women and Latinas, in Maryland; and

2) Counseling, Testing and Referral Services (CTRS), HIV testing and counseling for youth and young adults 13-24, in Washington, DC.

Sasha Bruce is soliciting applications to provide services for African American and Latino/a youth ages 14-24 utilizing the aforementioned interventions.

Entities (individuals or organizations) planning to submit an application are required to attend a mandatory information session on Wednesday, October 19th from 5:00-6:30pm at 1022 Maryland Avenue, NE in the lower level Prevention Center.

If your agency is interested in being a sub-grantee, please complete one or both of the applications by October 28th, 2011 and return 8 copies of the application to the Sasha Bruce Youthwork administrative office at 741 8th Street SE by 5pm. The completed application package should be to the attention of Margaux Delotte-Bennett.

This opportunity is not open to organizations in Washington, DC and Maryland that are currently funded by the CDC under this PS10-1003 funding announcement.

Any questions will need to be submitted via email by Friday, October 21st by 5pm. All answers will be posted to the Sasha Bruce Website by Tuesday October 25th.
