P.O.W.E.R. Program

Prevention, Outreach, Wellness, Education and Risk Reduction (P.O.W.E.R.) Program
provides prevention and education services to high-risk adolescents, including runaway
and homeless youth, commercial sex workers, street youth, teenage mothers, and court-
adjudicated youth. Youth are self-referred or may be referred through other SBY programs.
In order to better educate and prevent unplanned pregnancies and the spread of HIV/AIDS
in young people, the P.O.W.E.R. Program offers the following services:
Street and Community Outreach
Prevention Case Management (CRCS)
Street Smart group level intervention
Sexual Health presentations and workshops
Individual and family sexual health counseling
HIV testing and Care Advocacy
Pregnancy testing
Safer Sex materials
Hygiene materials
Referrals to health services
Health Fairs

Mini -Grant Information Session Questions
1. Is the grant process competitive each year or will there be an extension from the partner picked in 2011?
Based on performance, Sasha Bruce will be in a position to advocate for a partnership extension after the completion of the 2011-2012 grant year.
2. Are only the agencies that attended the mandatory information session eligible to apply?
Yes, as stated in the updated announcement, entities (individuals or organizations) planning to submit an application were required to attend the mandatory information session on Wednesday, October 19th, 2011
3. What is the ceiling for indirect costs?
Indirect costs should not exceed 10%.
4. Is a SIHLE adaptation possible for working with the identified target population?
Yes, an adaptation is possible and recommended for working with young Latinas using the SIHLE intervention.
5. Are agencies allowed to partner and/ or subcontract?
Yes, agencies are allowed to partner with others, there just needs to be one identified point of contact for the partnership.
