Kindred Connections
Kindred Connections is a drop-in program for at-risk youth and families in DC’s Ward 8—a community that is disproportionately affected by poverty, violence, substance abuse and teenage pregnancy. The family support center eliminates traditional barriers to care and housing and it helps families identify their own goals while guiding them to appropriate resources. Through a partnership with the Far Southeast Family Strengthening Collaborative, SBY’s Henson Ridge Center uses a variety of methods to empower families, including case management and service coordination, family team meetings, case reviews, parenting education and involvement, strength-based strategies to promote self-sufficiency, health education, and information and referrals.
