YOUTH DROP-IN CENTER
Serving the District of Columbia and Prince George’s County.
BACKGROUND
Established in 2016, the Sasha Bruce Drop-In Center works to reduce the length of time that a young person experiences homelessness in the DC Region. By working in tandem with the Street Outreach Program, the Drop-In Center fosters a safe and trusting environment where youth can receive care. In addition to providing survival services, the Center supports youth in their journey towards stable housing and economic independence.
SERVICES
Young people experiencing homelessness or who are unstably housed have access to a variety of free services and supports at the center, including:
- Accessing public benefits
- Case management
- Clothing
- Coordinated entry intake (for supportive housing)
- Computer & internet access
- Group and individual therapy
- Harm reduction
- HIV/STI testing
- Job search & readiness
- Laundry facilities
- Legal services
- Lockers
- Meals
- Mailing services
- Obtaining IDs and other vital records
- Recording music studio
- Recreational activities
- School enrollment & tutoring
- Showers
- Toiletries
